Fire Ants Management
Red Imported Fire Ants (Solenopsis invicta) are known for their painful stings and bites. These ants are native to Central and South America but have been established in Florida for decades. Native Fire Ants (Solenopsis geminata) are also found in Florida, but are not as prevalent as Red Imported Fire Ants. In fact, the Red Imported Fire Ants are displacing native Fire Ants from native habitats.
When disturbed, Fire Ants readily bite and sting people and pets. Fire Ants pose serious health risks, ranging from painful stings and swelling to anaphylactic shock.
Red Imported Fire Ants are common pests in lawns, landscapes, hardscapes, and even inside residential and commercial structures. Management of these pests primarily depends on the location of nests. Since nests usually contain multiple Fire Ant queens, choosing the best treatment approach is crucial for long-term management of these invasive pests.
Management options of Red Imported Fire Ants range from single mound treatments to applications of products that provide management for up to one full year – contact us for a complimentary evaluation and proposal so we can determine the best management approach for your property.
